NASHVILLE, TN - The Nashville Air Cargo Link, owned and operated by the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority, was recently designated as a foreign trade zone by the U.S. Department of Commerce Foreign-Trade Zones Board.
"This means a great deal for international business and Nashville," Carole Willis, director of communications and marketing, said. " This designation is the next step in securing a very competitive future in international cargo for Middle Tennessee."
The designation allows businesses using Nashville Air Cargo Link a number of advantages.
With a foreign trade zone status, materials destined for Nashville Air Cargo Link can bypass customs inspection at port, which can potentially save time for international shippers. In addition, federal duties are not charged until the cargo items are shipped to another location in the United States.
"These advantages will be very helpful in marketing Middle Tennessee to international businesses looking to expand their cargo opportunities," Willis said.
Nashville Air Cargo Link serves freight forwarders, manufacturers, distributors and air cargo carriers that ship goods into and out of the Middle Tennessee region. The Link complex is separate from the passenger facilities at Nashville International Airport. For more information on services at the Link, please call (615) 275-4444. |
