Carrillo Collection:
Dan Quest Woodcuts

During 1971 to 1985, each visitor to the Jack Daniels Distillery was mailed a Dan Quest original woodcut as a commemorative gift. These were signed and numbered works of art. Accompanied by a photograph of their tour group and a personal letter, the package overplayed the Tennessee image of simplicity and country. The woodcut ironically created an image of down-home goodness for the distillery business, and it was a very effective advertising strategy. The warm cozy feeling obviously induced customers to buy more of their product.

The Carrillo Collection
The Carrillo Collection spans the commissions of Dan Quest as they relate to Tennessee subjects, though only a portion of the prints will be on exhibit. These prints effectively reminisce about the past while they once equally packed real commercial intention. Yet, in the end they will always remain important because they are limited edition woodcut prints.
