Charlie Newton has been painting professionally for more than 30 years. He received a Bachelor or Arts degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Old Dominion and Norfolk State Universities. His public commissions include work at the University of Georgia, the North Carolina Zoo, The Lee Moffit Center, the Norfolk Zoo and the Beatties Ford Road Library in Charlotte, NC. Recent exhibitions include the Bill Shores Gallery in Chattanooga, Red Clay Survey a the Huntsville Museum of Art and the Hunter Museum of American Art in Chattanooga.

 
     
  Artist Statement
“My paintings consist of found and created objects organized in such a way as to imply ritual and spirituality. Color and brush stroke create passages throughout the surface and composition. Each painting is a meditation or prayer and speaks to the prophetic in art.”
