Born in Murfreesboro, TN, Edie Maney earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work from the University of Georgia. After working for 30 years for the State of Tennessee, mainly as a disability examiner, she retired to become a full-time artist. She received her art education from various institutions and workshops. Exhibiting her abstract work since 1984, Maney’s work can be seen in both private and public collections including St. Thomas Heart Institute, Vanderbilt Medical Center, Essent Healthcare, and Harwell, Howard, Hyne, Gabbert & Manner, PC.

 
     
  Artist Statement
“In this series, I take different cuts of raw canvas and attach them to the stretched canvas. The canvas addition is manipulated to form ripples and folds to give a deeper dimension to the overall painting. I invite the viewer to become lost in these paintings, like a journey.”
