  GREGOR TURK - c/d art case  
     
 

Utilizing a variety of media: sculpture, works on paper, and photography, Gregor Turk typically incorporates mapping imagery in his artwork. His public art projects include permanent installations at the Atlanta and Jacksonville International Airports. Turk received a bachelor's degree from Rhodes College in Memphis and a master's degree from Boston University. Between degrees he served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Liberia, West Africa. His studio is located in Atlanta.

 
     
  Artist Statement
“Utilizing a variety of media, I tend to focus on the fundamental qualities of mapping: the mysteriousness, inherent biases, cultural authoritativeness, and ability to simultaneously represent and distort reality. The Urban Tablet Series examines various cities, referencing both satellite imagery and road maps.”

Arts at the Airport receives funding for the visual arts from the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) and the Tennessee Arts Commission (TAC). The Flying Solo Exhibition Series is supported by the MNAA, the TAC, and is funded under an agreement with the State of Tennessee. Music performances are sponsored by the MNAA.
