  Heather Thorne - Concourse Connector

Heather Thorne has called Nashville, TN, home since 1998. Born and raised in London, England, she has resided in the United States for almost 30 years. Thorne studied in London to become a critical care nurse and earned a Master of Science degree in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She retired from nursing after a busy professional career and soon found herself equally as busy volunteering for Nashville charities, including serving on the board for the Nashville Ballet.

For the past four years, Thorne has been documenting and photographing the dancers in the Nashville Ballet. With special attention to movement and light, she credits her eye for dance to her own youthful experience as a ballet dancer.

  Artist Statement
"The interplay of light fascinates me the most. The radiant glow from the lighting booms form unusual angles frequently causing the costumes to appear luminous, giving the dancers an ethereal appearance. This exhibition represents my attempt to capture the essence of the dancers. The dedication, strength and beauty of these professionals is inspiring.”
