Kimberly Winkle is a visiting professor of art at Tennessee Technological University. She is a native of Oklahoma where she received her bachelor of fine art degree from the University of Oklahoma. She subsequently received her master of fine art in Furniture Design from San Diego State University. After completing her graduate studies, she moved to Smithville, Tenn., in 2002 where she was a resident artist at the Appalachian Center for Craft.

In her studio in Smithville, Kimberly creates works that combine furniture and sculptural elements. Her furniture forms are simple and serve as an empty canvas for color and line.   Artist's Statement
“Employing traditional furniture making techniques and materials, I build forms and structures with results that are, often times, untraditional. My interest lies in the pursuit and potential of the medium as an expressive device versus function being paramount.”
