Nashville Reflections is a selection of photographs created by young artists from three community centers: the Sevier Community Center of Metro Parks and Recreation, the Martha O’Bryan Center, and the CWA-Cayce Learning Center. The works were produced during an outreach program designed to familiarize them with the exhibition Reflections in Black: Smithsonian African American Photography, which will be on display at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts from January 24 to April 20, 2003. This exhibition presents a historical survey of African-American photography from 1840 to the present.

The student artists who participated in Nashville Reflections worked with professional photographers Carlton Wilkinson and Beth Trabue to explore the technical history of photography, as well as the pictorial history of the African-American experience as represented in Reflections in Black. Through this educational program, the students experimented with various types of photographic technology, including large format cameras used to create black and white paper negatives, disposable cameras, and Polaroid cameras. The images in Nashville Reflections capture the distinctive character and spontaneity of each participant and visually document the individual ideas of more than forty new photographers.

Arts at the Airport receives funding for the visual arts from the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority (MNAA) and the Tennessee Arts Commission (TAC).
