A native Tennessean, painter Pam Cobb is inspired by the homes, schoolhouses and scenery close to the Tennessee River. “It has been a habit of mine to personify certain objects so that they may act as witnesses to past events,” shares Cobb. Cobb’s visual storytelling of past events is both beautiful and haunting. Her curiosity for individual stories naturally drew her to teaching art for over fifteen years at Christian Brothers University and the University of Memphis. Cobb now devotes all of her time to creating work for the Jay Etkin Gallery in Memphis, TN, and the NorDys Gallery in Birmingham, AL.

Artist Statement
“Looking through a window allows us a glimpse into another world. I hope onlookers will be motivated, upon viewing the paintings, to formulate an imagined history or ponder about those who lived before us. We must be content to examine the tokens of evidence generously left behind.”
