  Kristina Arnold - Ticketing Level

Kristina Arnold was born and raised in Arlington, VA, and received a  degree in community health from Brown University in Providence, RI. While at Brown she took courses at Brown’s sister school, the Rhode Island School of Design. Upon graduation, she moved to Nashville to pursue a career in public health, working as a research associate in the department of Preventive Medicine, division of Pharmacoepidemiology at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. After four years she shifted gears and returned to art school, earning her Master of Fine Arts degree in painting from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.

“Questions about health and human biology have always intrigued me," she states, "but I realized that I was using the wrong language to explore those questions. Instead of continuing to look at the world through the lens of science, I realized I express myself better through the visual language of art." Her recent works are created primarily from Plexiglas and fabric and often involve sound. The pieces are eerily biological and oddly child-like. Arnold’s recent shows include Psychosomatic at Artlab in Memphis, Infectious at Ruby Green in Nashville, and Antibodies & Aliens at the Oak Ridge Children’s Museum in Oak Ridge, TN.
