  Carrie McGee - Ticketing Level

Carrie McGee's Flying Solo installation expands on her recent small-scale work created from industrial materials such as plastic with metal cable and hardware. This series, entitled "Strands," creates serene and beautiful sites for meditation and spiritual reflection. As such, they contain references not only to religious artifacts and decorative arts, but also to contemporary painting and sculpture. The Flying Solo installation carries with it the same intentions. It is her hope that when travelers view the works they will be able to draw sustenance from the meditative experience of beauty and poetry.

McGee, who has lived in Nashville for the past nine years, received her Bachelor's of Arts degree from Immaculate Heart College in Los Angeles. She is represented by Cumberland Gallery in Nashville, and her work has been featured in solo exhibitions at Penine Hart Gallery in New York; The Lowe Gallery in Atlanta; the Eklektikos Gallery in Washington, D.C.; and at the Internationale Austausch Ateliers in Basel, Switzerland. Her work is included in the permanent collections of the Tennessee State Museum, the Christoph Merian Foundation, Basel, Switzerland and the Saks Fifth Avenue Corporate Collection.
