  Project Overview
  • Renovation of Nashville International Airport's (BNA) nearly 900,000 square foot facility
  • First interior renovation in 23-year-history of BNA's existing terminal, which opened in 1987
  • Multi-year, multi-phase project launched in October 2006
  • Phase I of the renovation included new food, beverage and retail vendors that offer local flavor, brands and culture, as well as national brands and concepts
  • Phase I also included a consolidated central security checkpoint that utilizes the Transportation Security Administration's self-select lanes' program
  • Phase II is currently underway and should be completed in 2011.
  • Phase II includes the renovation of existing public restrooms and construction of a new restroom; replacement of existing heating and air conditioning units; renovation of the airline gate hold rooms; and replacement of all wall coverings on the ticketing, baggage and ground transportation levels.
  • Other interior work includes increasing public space in the ticket lobby. Following Sept. 11, 2001, much of BNA’s lobby, has been dedicated to explosive detection screening machines. As part of the renovations, these machines will be replaced by a new in-line explosive detection system (EDS) which will streamline and improve the safety and security of the screening process for checked baggage.

The more than 30 new food and beverage establishments and retail shops represent just one part of a multi-year terminal renovation program at BNA. The renovation program also includes a new central security checkpoint; concourse skylights; flight information panels; new carpeting in the concourse and terminal; renovation of the restrooms; and maintenance upgrades to elevators, escalators and HVAC units.

So what’s it all about? The Nashville Airports Experience. It's about serving as great airports for passengers, partners and employees. It's about providing world-class facilities and customer service to enhance passenger travel. The new look and feel of the terminal is contemporary, but uniquely Nashvillewarm, friendly and memorable.
